Sunflower oil, safflower oil, rice bran oil have been hot commodities now a days due to their importance for a healthy heart. They are full of unsaturated fatty acids useful in preventing coronary heart disease and hypercholesterolemia.
The popularity of vegetable oils like sunflower oil, safflower oil, rice bran oil growing day by day due to health benefits especially in preventing cardiovascular conditions. As we know polyunsaturated fatty acids regulate the bad cholesterol and prevent formation of atherosclerotic plaques halting the development of coronary artery disease.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids– Mostly the polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) include omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. The fatty acids like omega-3 fatty acids include linolenic acid(ALA) , DHA, EPA. Plant sources like vegetable oils are good sources of these fatty acids. These regulate the cholesterol level in body favouring the good cholesterol “HDL” level. In other way they play a very important role in preventing the atherosclerotic plaque formation and keeping thrombotic coronary artery disease and heart attack at bay.
Role of Sunflower oil– Sunflower oil is a very rich source of these fatty acids PUFA and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). They are also a very excellent source of vitamin-E which is the queen among all anti-oxidants.
Rice bran oil — Rice bran is the by-product after processing of rice. It is usually used for cattle feed. Rice bran oil is also an excellent source of PUFA.
Now also in developing countries also it is widely used due to its health benefits.
